COVID-19 can’t keep Bloomington, Indiana down! Activities are plentiful this fall. Be sure to adhere to all city and state mandates when you make plans for any of these activities. Here are some of the best to try out.
Tuesday Market
Tuesday Market takes place at the Pavilion at Switchyard Park, 1601 S. Rogers St. Make your weekdays as fresh and tasty as your weekends! The Tuesday Market offers a chance to stock up on your favorite farm-grown foods. Stop by on your way home from work to enjoy local produce as well as live music, with free parking at Switchyard Park.
People’s Park Concert Series
Live, local music on a NEW night, Thursday, from 4:30-6 PM. Whether you are on your way home from work or class or headed out to dinner with friends, stop by Peoples Park for a free, live musical performance by local musicians. Hear old favorites, and be the first to discover new faces on the local music scene.
Blind Date with a Bag of Books
Do you miss the Friends of the Library Bookstore? An option for you to purchase five books for five bucks has become available! All you need to do is go to https://mcpl.info/friends/gift-items-sale, link to Blind Date with a Bag of Books, select a genre from the pull down menu (general fiction, mystery, young adult, children’s, history, cooking, gardening, surprise yourself), pay five dollars using one of the PayPal options, and wait to hear that the bag is available for pickup at the Main Library. Bookstore sales support the programs of your Monroe County Public Library.
State of Nature: Picturing Indiana Biodiversity
The exhibit will contain art and artifacts that encourage an aesthetic appreciation of the natural world in Indiana. Artworks by Indiana artists and artists with connections to Indiana will be intermixed with artifacts from the Indiana Geological and Water Survey and the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites to promote a deeper understanding of our environment. State of Nature: Picturing Indiana Biodiversity will be open by appointment from August 28th to November 18th at the Grunwald Gallery. The gallery will be open by appointment only.
